Dermaflage

The Inventor

Dermaflage - Matt SingerThe magic of a Hollywood special effects artist applied like a simple cosmetic.

Dermaflage was invented by a former Hollywood make-up artist and world-renowned facial prosthetic specialist Matt Singer. Dermaflage is the answer to plastic surgeon, dermatologist, and consumer requests for a scar concealment product that works better than traditional cosmetics.

Singer has more than 15 years of experience, working on countless films and television shows. In response to requests from plastic surgeons, dermatologists and consumers, Singer began to offer a new topical scar filler that worked better than any makeup product on the market. Dermaflage simplifies the application process into three easy steps that can be performed by any consumer.

Singer fell in love with adventure movies as a child and started making his own stop-motion films at age 10. As a teenager he developed a second passion for special-effects makeup. After graduating from New York University Film School in 1990, he moved to Los Angeles to work as a special-effects artist. Working on Emmy- and Academy Award-winning film and television projects, Singer eventually made a name for himself as an innovator in the area of silicone prosthetics. He developed two popular silicone products commonly used in film and television today. He continues to push the envelope for special effects, and served as consulting producer in the SyFi channel series, Face Off.

Today, Singer is director of research and development for Memphis-based Silicone Arts Laboratories. He lectures at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center on Maxillofacial Prosthetics as part of the Dental Restorative program. He also sees patients from the UT Health Science Center and Vanderbilt University, and works closely with dermatologists and surgeons.
